Congratulations on choosing to examine one of the most powerful and innovative special effects applications on the market, Strata Inc.’s MediaPaint.
MediaPaint puts the awesome power of professional movie editing technology in your hands to let you create such effects as laser blasts, ghosted imagery, and video-on-video effects which, until now, could only be produced in special effect laboratories with very expensive hardware. Now you can make movie magic on your desktop computer in the privacy of your own home or office.
The effects you can produce with MediaPaint will give you the competitive edge when making professional presentations. It will also jazz up videos for private use, and generally astound your friends and co-workers.
Except in its limited ability to save files, the Demonstration package is a fully functional application. You should note the maximum document size you can open, work in, and save with the Demo version is 300 X 200 pixels with a maximum of 30 frames. In the Demo version, documents can only be saved in the MediaPaint project format. When you purchase a full working model of MediaPaint, you will be able to open, edit and save any MediaPaint document you create with this Demo version. Although you cannot save MediaPaint files in QuickTime™ or PICT format, they can be imported into a project file. If you want to start a new project, or edit an old project, you can use MediaPaint’s extensive assortment of tools to create your own movie. The full working version of MediaPaint will allow you to work with a document up to 4096 X 4096 pixels, which will require at least 256 megabytes of RAM.
Strata Inc. has included QuickTime™ 2.0 and Apple Multimedia Tuner 2.0.1 on separate disks. If you do not have QuickTime 2.0 installed on your machine, you should install the QuickTime disks now. You must also have Apple Multimedia Tuner installed in your System Extensions folder for MediaPaint to function correctly. Follow the installation instructions in the Readme file on the QuickTime disk. Don’t forget to restart your computer after installing the QuickTime extensions.
The default compression frame rate at which movies are brought into MediaPaint is 15 frames per second. If you do not know the original frame rate, bring your QuickTime movie into Apple™ Computer’s Movie Converter, included in the MediaPaint Demo package, to determine the frame rate.
